When drawing these thumbnails I constantly looked at Giacometti's art work for ideas. For a lot of my thumbnails I had drawn one of his sculptures and altered them slightly to make them into city landscapes. I found that most of these sketches are of a city suspended in the sky, on a giant statue figure, or hanging in the middle of a frame box over a far drop. When looking at Giacometti's sculptures I got the sense of height and drop, like something suspended in the air. This at first reminded me of the city mentioned in Calvino's 'Invisible Cities' known as Baucis, as it was a city balanced high up on stilts, and Giacometti's figure sculptures resemble Calvino's description in some aspects.
