Life Drawing Class- Photoshop Enhancement

I joined the first year's life drawing class briefly last week, and did some rough sketches of the model. However the drawings were rushed and I also photographed the sketches poorly. So I took the images into Photoshop to enhance the brightness and contrast of the drawings and then decided to paint over the sketched in selected parts using the magic tool.

Life Drawing Session

I was fortunate enough to join onto the life drawing class today, and I had realized how important and beneficial life drawing is to character design and animation. I haven't done life drawing since last Halloween, and I felt that today I was a bit rusty when getting back into it.

Character Design Lesson- Body Language and Emotional Expression

In Justin's lesson today we learnt about how body language is important to convey emotion in a character. We practised by drawing each other in different poses, and applying this to a character of our choice.

My chosen character was Amelie. I wanted to draw from a non-animated character, so I could imagine what they would be like in an animated feature.

Life Drawing- Wedding Day of the Dead

Today in life drawing the model was dressed to the theme of day of the dead, to fit in with Halloween. I really enjoyed this session as it gave us the chance to experiment with colour and patterns. I found it difficult to get start with just charcoal, so after the first sketch I moved onto water colours. When it came to the final sketch, I decided to use mixed media. However I found this really tricky as my first attempt went wrong. So I flipped the sketch around and started again.

Life Drawing

Thanks to the change in the timetable, I was able to join the first year's life drawing class. I haven't done life drawing for quite a few months and found it slightly tricky getting back into it. I found today that the fast sketches went well for me, but the longer poses were slightly out of proportion. Still it was good to do this again, and I hope to join onto more classes in future.

Last Life Drawing Session of the Year!

Since it was the last life drawing session today I decided to spend the whole day doing life drawings. In today's session we were challenged to create drawings in short periods of time. Some were five minutes, others were ten seconds. And there were a few twenty minute long poses for more detailed sketches.
