Zirma is a city that's not clearly described through its architecture or climate. It's portrayed through the nature of the inhabitants. The residents of this town are described as insane, or going mad. And despite the lack of physical description given in the book, I instantly got a clear picture in my head of what Zirma looks like. I started drawing and soon realized that my illustration the city strongly resembles the scenery in Dr Caligari. I think I subconsciously connected the psychological madness of the Caligari film with the insanity described of this city.
