  3. Hi Cat.
I really like this idea and I think it depends on the tone that you're going for, as to whether it should be the man that is grumpy or the woman. Most younger children have a stronger connection to the mum and so it would make sense for the Man to be grumpy, but on the other hand the idea of the woman being the grumpy character could appeal to the older children (15 years onward), and could even relate to the feminism lecture that we had the other day.
Personally, I think it would be suitable to have the woman as the grumpy character. I think that because, from what I hear in films, the female of a species tends to be more aggressive, and you get "Queens" of said species, like in "Aliens", for example.

  4. Whichever the grumpy one will be, are they naturally grumpy & miserable or is there something causing it? :^ o
It might help you make a decision if there's a reason for them being grumpy related to the story !

  5. I think you need to have a reason why one of the characters is grumpy, though I suppose maybe being a hookwom is reason enough? I think either gender would work but I really love the grumpy 2 female hookworm!

  6. Hey Cat,

I agree with everyone, the female should be the grumpier one as us females get grumpy at anything its our nature aha. But I agree with the idea that you need to formulate a reason why they should be grumpier. Then that way if you do decide whos going to be grumpier then at least you can explain why. I mean the male can or could be grumpier because the female choose the destination all about her and not considered him at all. Or visa versa. Have a little think :) And good luck :)

  7. Thank you for the feed back :D I felt the female character to be grumpy would be funnier, I really liked the designs I did for her, and the gentle male. Thank you Dan for the advice, I didn't consider how the age group of the audience may determine the character's portrayal. The character is naturally grumpy, but cheers up throughout the holiday. :) I think I'll go for the female worm to be miserable one.

  8. Hi Cat,

I think you need to take comfort in the great British tradition of 'fishwives' and brow beaten men - you see it in the tradition of saucy seaside postcards and in the Carry On movies - I don't think you need a reason for the grumpy female, as I think it sits happily within a peculiarly British view of marriage...

Meanwhile - can you complete the survey for me, pretty please - and let me know when you've done it - cheers!
